Research Project - Day 1

On Monday the class was asked to split into 3 separate groups for our first assignment this semester; the Group Research Project. It wasn't long before I was asked by Steven if I wanted to form a group, having seen his dedication to past projects in different classes I agreed right away! We also recruited Jim and Justin to join our group both of whom I know I work with very well from previous experiences.

After a bit of brainstorming we decided that our common strengths as a group were film and motion graphics related so we continued down that path in search of ideas. We discussed a few ideas but settled on the idea of doing a short movie which everyone happily agreed on. As we discussed possibilities we kept running into the problem that is it is hard to convey much in the short timespan of a short movie. So Justin came up with the idea of making a trailer style short film, that way we can convey a lot more in the time given. And given that Justin has researched trailers extensively in the last semester I felt confident to pursue this idea.

The idea we settled on was "War is not sustainable". It has the link to sustainability and the action film theme gives us all a chance to play to our strengths (mine being action oriented visual effects). The idea definitely needs to be fleshed out A LOT more so I look forward to getting together with the team once again to discuss and plan more indepth.
